KFL&A Community Drug Strategy Coalition Thanks Consumption Treatment Services Staff
July 2026
The KFL&A Community Drug Strategy Coalition recognizes that Kingston Community Health Centres’ (KCHC) Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS) site is scheduled to close on September 30, 2026. Operated by KCHC, CTS has been a vital component of the local continuum of care and a valued partner at the Coalition table, contributing critical situational awareness, data, education, and frontline insight that has strengthened local understanding of emerging community needs.
We extend our sincere gratitude to CTS staff for their compassionate, skilled, and dedicated approach to providing lifesaving care. This work has taken place within a challenging environment shaped by ongoing public policy changes, persistent stigma surrounding substance use, and an increasingly toxic and unpredictable drug supply. The Coalition acknowledges the professional and personal demands of this work, as well as the central role CTS staff have played in building trust and fostering connection, support, and safety for people in our community.
As the community adapts and plans for service transitions, the Coalition values the experience and expertise of CTS staff and encourages partners to work collaboratively, share knowledge, and carefully consider how services can meet the needs of those who are most impacted by substance use, stigma, and the ongoing drug poisoning crisis.
